MyPlate is the current nutrition guide published by the USDA Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion, a food circle depicting a place setting with a plate and glass divided into five food groups. It replaced the USDA’s MyPyramid guide on June 2, 2011, ending 19 years of USDA food pyramid diagrams. It is said the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and while MyPlate is intended to be a guide to healthy food and diet, it is considered to very problematic by many leading nutrition scientists. Since the introduction of U.S. government dietary guidelines, there has been a sharp increase in nutrition-related diseases, particularly obesity and diabetes.
